Now Is The TIme

now_is_the_timeStudents on university campuses today are desperate for the presence and the power of Jesus Christ. Even so, it is difficult to find a university campus that is currently experiencing a movement of power, purity, and authoritative prayer. In an age when the testimonies of worldwide revivals and miraculous outpourings have become almost commonplace, it is time that we begin to ask the question; why are American university campuses lacking the presence and power of Jesus Christ?

University campuses could be one of the most strategic areas of harvest for the American Church. It is during the college years—between the ages of 18 to 24—that young people really begin to develop their own identities. It is during these years that young people leave the ideologies of their fathers behind and embrace their own convictions and religious beliefs. In fact, I once read that the vast majority of committed Christians dedicate their lives to God by the age of 24! It is imperative that we as a Body begin to rally behind campus ministries and "cast our nets on the other side" as we reach out to students who do not yet know the love of Christ.

Campus ministries need to provide more for students than pizza parties and sleepovers! Fellowship is important, but it is the power of God that truly changes lives. When students are exposed to the healing power of the Holy Spirit, the experience of receiving a powerful prophetic word, or the freedom of radical worship, it is difficult to imagine them going anywhere else for their life source except the Living God! It is vital that university students encounter the power of Jesus Christ so that they can truly be exposed to their personal destiny, the very destiny that they were perfectly designed to fulfill.

I wait expectantly for the day when the Christian students on campuses are thought to be the ones with understanding, and not just the professors! I long for a day when the prophetic word of the Lord flows so abundantly on university campuses that all of the students graduate not just with a diploma, but with a destiny word that the Lord has spoken over their lives! I look forward to the day, for example, that students will say to each other, "Do you have a problem? You should go and talk to a Christian I know named Sarah. I spoke to her and she prayed with me and revealed the secrets of my heart. I left encouraged! I now know that God is real and He has a plan for my life!"

Can you imagine what a university campus would look like if all of the believers on campus were committed to seeing prayer, purity and power established on the campus? Imagine healing prayer booths across campus where students are being healed on a daily basis. Imagine spiritual readings booths where non-believers are finding out what God has to say to them personally. Imagine a campus where students feel positive peer pressure to live a life of purity before God. Imagine a campus that is equipping students to change the world.

It is time that university students begin to gain an understanding of who they are in Christ and what they have been created to do! It is time for a new model of campus ministry to be released where campus ministries begin to see their place in the Body of Christ as a whole, and where campus leaders are covered by mothers and fathers to whom they are accountable for guidance and dependent upon for support. Now is the time for a shift to take place on university campuses where campus ministers unite and work together to serve the unbelievers who are desperate to hear about the love of God. Now is the time that we begin to take university campuses together as a Body united as one!
