About The Album

Jesus Culture with Martin Smith: Live From New York.  Recorded live at our Jesus Culture Conference in New York in June 2012, this album is a dynamic partnership of voices who have helped shape a generation of worshippers.

Last year, God called us to Chicago to empower and release a generation that would bring transformation to our nation and the rest of the world. During this event, we experienced three days of passionate worship, powerful teaching and amazing ministry. On the final night, we stood in awe, as fourteen thousand fully engaged followers of Jesus, spontaneously worshiped Him for almost twenty minutes. The ongoing testimonies from these participants and the tens of thousands who watched online, confirmed to us God’s presence and power was released that day in a phenomenal way to mark a generation. What we experienced was incredible. Our summer began with New York. We had the absolute honor and privilege to partner with Martin Smith, former lead singer for ‘Delirious?’ and someone who has fathered the worship movement of this generation with great impact. For the past few years, the Lord has brought our two paths together and we were thrilled to have him at our Jesus Culture Conference in New York. Our own Chris Quilala and Kim Walker-Smith led the main worship sessions with Martin. The passion and hunger that came forth in those sets was indescribable and we are excited to be releasing this album that captured many of those moments.

We were also joined by Kristene DiMarco, Byran and Katie Torwalt, and Derek Johnson for worship. At each set, the arena was filled with the sound of worshipping hearts set on fire for God.

Banning Liebscher remembers a moment of the conference that stood out:

“A unique moment for me is when Derek was going to lead an afternoon prayer session. He was going to lead with our band but we didn’t know that band had actually been scheduled for a photo shoot at that same time. So Derek is walking up on stage and the band is walking off the stage!!! Derek’s like, “Am I not leading with a band?” I look at him and said, “I guess not…just grab your guitar and let’s do this!” And we had a worship and prayer meeting for 2 hours with Derek and an acoustic guitar. The entire place FULLY gave themselves in worship, at the top of their lungs!

It was a special moment for me because it’s one thing to worship when your favorite worship team is up there and the lights are going and it’s the whole band and you’re “in the moment” but it’s another thing when it’s a guy and a guitar and say you say “I don’t even care…I just want to worship Jesus and I can do that with a guy and a guitar, I can do that in my closet, I can do that with a full band…it doesn’t matter.” Just watching the response of the people there and their heart for worship was a pretty special moment for me.”

This conference had an amazing line-up of speakers as well. We invited Bill Johnson, Carl Lentz, and Bishop TD Jakes as well as having Kim Walker-Smith speak the first session and Banning Liebscher closing the conference out on the last night. Each speaker brought a unique message to the event and had something powerful to impart to those who were there and those who watched our on our stream. There were healings, salvations, hearts mended and lives transformed. It was an incredible 3 days and a phenomenal beginning to our summer; we went on to Los Angeles a month later and experienced the same passion and power of God and His love as we gathered on the west coast.

We are so excited to bring you this album; Jesus Culture with Martin Smith: Live From New York. We believe lives were marked for revival as we gathered together to seek the Lord through worship and preaching and we are faithful that the Lord will encounter you too as you listen to these songs.

Jesus Culture is more than a band or a conference or an ideal. We are a movement of revivalists who are passionate about our Lord, and intentional in worshiping and serving Him throughout the nations.
